Fridges and freezers cost more to dispose of than furniture of the same size for one reason: the refrigerant gases and the insulation foam are both controlled, so the unit has to be degassed at a permitted facility before it can be broken up. That gate fee is why nobody legitimate takes a fridge for £20.
Our prices are fixed and all-in: collection from inside the property, carry out, transport, degassing at a permitted WEEE site and the transfer note. There is no extra charge for stairs on a standard domestic unit.

What moves the price
Degassing is a legal requirement, not an upsell
Refrigerants and blowing agents in the insulation are ozone-depleting or high global warming potential substances. They must be extracted at a permitted treatment facility, and that facility charges per unit regardless of who brings it in.
Domestic versus commercial units
Commercial cabinets carry a larger gas charge, more foam and more steel, and often need two people plus a dolly to move. That is the difference between £70 and £120.
Where the unit is standing
A fridge in a kitchen on the ground floor is straightforward. A cellar cooler down stone steps or an American-style unit on a third floor needs extra crew time and we say so at booking, not on arrival.
Combining it with other items
If a fridge is going anyway, adding the washing machine, an old cooker or a couple of bags of rubbish is cheaper than booking twice.
Whether the old unit needs disconnecting
We unplug and remove. We do not disconnect plumbed water lines or gas — have integrated units unplumbed by your fitter before collection.
